In 2006, Judge Michael Schneider was appointed to the 315th District Court in Harris County by Governor Rick Perry and has served as a commissioner to the Texas Supreme Court Children’s Commission since 2015. He retired from the bench in 2019. Previously, Judge Schneider served as Deputy Division Chief of the Children’s Protective Division of the Harris County Attorney’s Office; General Counsel to the Children’s Assessment Center, and the Harris County Attorney’s CAC Partnership Team.
Judge Schneider holds a degree in political science from Texas A&M University, was a visiting student at the University of Texas School of Law and obtained his law degree from South Texas College of Law. Additionally, Judge Schneider is a volunteer instructor at Child Advocates, Inc., Chair of the Houston Bar Association’s Juvenile Law Section, Co-Chair of Harris County’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative, Vice Chair and Secretary of the Harris County Juvenile Board, member of the Harris County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council and Harris County Public Defender Board of Directors, an officer of the Council of the Juvenile Section of the State Bar of Texas, founder of Harris County’s Human Trafficking Court (GIRLS Court) and Juvenile Drug Court, and a Senior Fellow at the American Leadership Forum.
