Colonel Sonya J. Batchelor
Colonel - State Judge Advocate, Texas Air National Guard Headquarters

Col Sonya J. Batchelor serves as the State Judge Advocate at Texas Air National Guard (TXANG) Headquarters (HQ) located at Camp Mabry, Austin, Texas. She is responsible for overseeing legal advice to the HQ TXANG and three subordinate Wings.

Col Batchelor graduated from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 1996 with a Juris Doctor degree. Col Batchelor entered active duty in 2002 and was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base (AFB), Louisiana and later, Randolph AFB, Texas. While on active duty, she served in various capacities as Trial Counsel, Special Assistant United States Attorney, Chief of Labor/Preventative Law, Chief of Adverse Actions, and Disability Defense Counsel. In 2012, Col Batchelor joined the TXANG. Prior to her current assignment, Col Batchelor was the Staff Judge Advocate at the 149th Fighter Wing, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland AFB, Texas.

In her full-time capacity, she is a military technician serving as General Counsel to the Joint Force HQ for the TXARNG and the TXANG. Prior to military service, she practiced criminal and civil law with the firm Redwine, Mabary, and Batchelor.
